Q: How difficult was it to play in this windy conditions and the court was very soft as well?
MONFILS: Yes, it was difficult. But that was not the reason. The reason is that today, for me, it was a very bad day. I think I wasn't clear on the court. It's not how I was playing, but how I was thinking.
Q: How much of that was down to Andy?
MONFILS: It was okay. Because I know I cannot really play my game. You know, I don't really like not the game, but how I was on the court, but how I was thinking was very bad.
Q: Do you have a reason for that? Did you feel negative on the court?
MONFILS: No, I think it's because I'm stupid sometimes (laughs).
Q: Do you feel you were overpressing in the second set, there were a lot of forehanders?
MONFILS: No. I cannot talk about the match because it wasn't me.
Q: You came after a good run in Rome. Do you think it was maybe just too much too quick?
MONFILS: No, it's today. I don't know what happened.
Q: Did you feel okay when you went on and it got worse during the match.
MONFILS: I don't know.
Q: Do you have to learn how to keep your composure, your level two weeks in a row?
MONFILS: Maybe.
Q: Maybe your expectations were higher after Rome?
MONFILS: yes.
Q: How often do you play in conditions like that on the Tour with lots of wind and unprotected courts. Is it often?
MONFILS: Not much. Maybe three or four times in a year.
Q: So you don't get a chance really to practice in these conditions?
MONFILS: No, not really.
Q: What do you think of Murray as a player?
MONFILS: He is a good player. He's young, he comes in. I think he is a good player.
Q: Do you think you will both be in the Top 10?
MONFILS: I hope so.
Q: Can you talk just for a moment about Nadal in Rome and the way he was playing tennis. Is he as good a player as you have ever played?
MONFILS: Yes, I think he is the best on the clay court, because for me it was very strong; from the baseline, on clay, he is the best.
Q: What does he do that is so good. He has so many aspects of his game, running after every ball, return of service, what did you find the most difficult to combat?
MONFILS: I think to make a winner is very difficult against him.
Q: Because he just gets to everything?
MONFILS: Yes.
