ENTREVISTA DE TOMMY HAAS EXPLICANDO LOS MOTIVOS DE SU RETIRADA DEL MASTERS SERIES DE HAMBURGO

Q: Were the whistles very painful?
A: Of course that hurts a bit, because I always like to play in Hamburg and I try to get far. But on the other hand I can understand that the audience wanted to see more tennis, and better tennis. But I can't do more than try my best.
Q: Is that a classical hay fever, an allergy?
A: I'll do a test tomorrow. I always have hay fever at this time of the year, when I get over here. I always take pills. Every evening I have a dry mouth and a runny nose, the usual. But I never though much about it, because I have it every year. Since my food poisoning in Indian Wells I have the feeling that I'm not in my best shape, but I didn't worry about it too much. Now I've been in Hamburg for a few days and tried to practice to get far and survive the first round. But as soon as the match started and I realized that I didn't feel well, I got a sort of panic attack. All of a sudden nothing worked. I had the feeling that I couldn't see properly, couldn't focus properly, my eyes were watery and I couldn't breathe properly. That has never happened to me before on court. So I knew that something was wrong with me. I have to look into that now.
Q: What about next week?
A: I don't know yet. At the moment it doesn't look good. But I will know more tomorrow, after the blood test and another allergy test, and I will see how I feel. Because at the moment I don't feel well, unfortunately.
Q: Could you get the idea to leave the clay court season altogether?
A: We will see. I don't want now … French Open are starting in 12, 13 days. There is still time until then, but if I get back some results tomorrow which don't look too good, I have to decide. I will know more in a few days.
Q: Are there some sort of problems with taking certain medicine because of the doping law?
A: We will see soon.
Q: What have you taken so far against the allergy?
A: Something called Claretin.

Q: Fueron dolorosos los abucheos?
A: Por supuesto, eso duele, porque siempre me ha gustado jugar en Hamburfo y siempre intento llegar lejos. Pero por otra parte puede comprender que los espectadores quisieran ver más tenis y mejor tenis. Pero lo único que puedo hacer es intentar hacerlo lo mejor posible.
Q: Se trata de una tipica 'fiebre del heno', una alergia?
A: Voy a hacerme un test mañana. Siempre tengo alergia en esta epoca del año, cuando estoy aquí. Siempre tomo pastillas (de la alergia). Todas las tardes tengo la boca seca y moqueo, lo normal. Pero nunca pienso mucho en ello, porque lo tengo todos los años. Desde my intoxicación (con la comida) en indian wells , siento que no estoy totalmente en forma, pero no me preocupa demasiado. Ahora he estado unos dias en Hamburgo y he intentado jugar para llegar lejos y pasar la primera ronda. Pero en cuanto empezó el partido me di cuenta de que no me encontraba bien, me dió una especie de ataque de pánico. De repente nada funcionaba. Tenía la sensación de que no podía ver correctamente, no podía enfocar correctamente, me lloraban los ojos y no podía respirar correctamente. Esto nunca me había sucedido antes en una pista de tenis. Así que supe, que algo me estaba fallando. Tengo que ocuparme de eso ahora.
Q: Y para la semana que viene?
A: No lo sé todavía. Por el momento no pinta bien. Pero sabré más mañana, después del análisis de sangre y de otra prueba relacionada con la alergia, y veré como me encuentro. Porque por el momento, no me encuentro bien, desgraciadamente.
Q: Podrías aceptar la idea de dejar la temporada de tierra batida?
A: Ya veremos. No quiero dejarlo ahora... Rolanga empezará en 12, 13 días . Todavía hay tiempo hasta entonces, pero si los resultados de mañana (de los análisis) no son buenos, tendré que decidir. Sabré más en unos días.
Q: Hay alguna clase de problemas con las leyes antidopaje al tomar cietas medicinas?
A: Lo veremos pronto.
