La sospecha de amaño se cierne sobre Wimbledon, mítica competición de tenis sobre hierba en la que un total de ocho enfrentamientos podrían haber sido fijados de antemano por los sindicatos profesionales de apuestas.

De acuerdo con el diario The Times, los ocho partidos aparecen como "sospechosos" en un informe elaborado por empresas que controlan hábitos de apuestas en diferentes eventos deportivos.

Cuatro de estos encuentros se habrían disputado en la edición del año pasado. En ellos, se detectó un importante aumento en la suma de apuestas realizadas para ciertos encuentros, si se comparan con choques similares.

Perder por 13.000 euros
De lo que se habla es de ganancias con seis dígitos para la mafia de apuestas, incluso después de haber pagado al tenista involucrado en el amaño. El diario británico recuerda el caso de un jugador que reconoció haber rechazado una oferta de 70.000 libras, casi 90.000 euros, por perder en primera ronda de Wimbledon. La tarifa para perder este año en esa fase de la competición rondaría los 13.000 euros.

Se cree que mafias rusas y otras procedentes del este de Europa se encuentran detrás de una importante parte del pastel de las apuestas ilegales, aunque el informe también nombra una banda austríaca.

"Si echas un vistazo a un torneo puedes encontrar un partido con apuestas por valor de 23.000 libras, otro por 27.000, otro por 36.000 y otro por 4,5 millones de libras. No hay que ser un genio para comprender que algo ha pasado en el último caso", explicó un directivo con conocimiento del dossier, en el que se encuentran hasta 140 partidos "sospechosos".

De verdad creeis que un top-ten amañaria un partido por 13.000 euros, habria que mirar mas el curriculum de nalbandian y ver que es un jugador de lo ams irregular,y cuando coje unos kilitos de mas se acaba su buen juego y pasa a ser mediocre,...habrá ido a argentina,fiesta por aki fiesta por alla...no entrena y su estado de forma a la mierda,pero por 13.000 euros si se deja ganar un top ten es para desmayarse de la tonteria que haria ese jugador

Me parece que de amaño no tiene nada, desde el año pasado que le vi jugar a Nabaldián con ferrero, que no recuerdo el torneo exactamente, pero si que recuerdo que ferrero ganó a nabaldián cuando era el otro favorito y después la cago ferrero con el aleman kohlschcreib en el siguiente partido, total, estaba todo convencido depués del torneo que hizo, en el que ganó a federer. Creía que iba a ganar sin dificultades, pero cuando me pongo a ver el partido, me encuentro con su gran barriga cervecera jaja, el casano del tenis, bueno que escandolo, después de ese día no le he vuelto aver bien, se pega la vida padre¡¡¡

Menos pensar que cualquiera se va a meter en temas de amaños, y menos un tio como Nalbandian. Que necesidad tendria de ganarse 13000 euros?

Ademas, tiene un bajon de forma o de motivacion importante, n el ultimo partido que jugo el argentino, Djokovic le metio un repaso importante.

Cómo va a dejarse perder un jugador por 13.000€ si sólo pasar a la 2º ronda ya superará esa cantidad y sin necesidad de meterse en lios e ilegalidades??

Los tenistas son PERSONAS. Tienen sus bajones, sus problemas... La verdad es que me molesta mucho que una persona llame "mercenario" o cualquier otro insulto a un deportista simplemente por perder un partido.

Buenas el unico proposito del post es que vierais la noticia, ya que me resulto muy curiosa esta mañana cuando lo lei.

Y después esta tarde fue el partido del mercerario que aspira a ser numero 1 del tenis mundial. El post fue un poco en caliente porque acaba de perder unos pavos. Por otro lado me fastidio ya que tenía claro que este top ten para mi es No bet ya que ultimamente da una de cal y otra de arena. Una temporada pésima y entrado en kilos. Pero me cegue.

En fin error mío pero que opino que es un mercenario y que como no cambie de actitud desaparecera del panorama mundial.Porque tiene mucho talento pero poca cabeza.

P.D. Para mi la noticia no deja de ser curiosa ademas viene de un medio un poco sensacionalista como 20 minutos, aunque lo de los 13mil opino que falta un cero fijo y más teniendo en cuenta que el año pasado fueron 90 mil en primera ronda.

Tennis authorities believe that gambling syndicates may attempt to fix matches at Wimbledon, the official in charge of the tournament admitted yesterday.
Speaking after it emerged that eight previous matches at Wimbledon are to be investigated because of suspicious betting activity, Ian Ritchie, chief executive of the All England Club, said that the tournament was alert to the risks of criminal elements trying to manipulate results but that it had the situation under control. He said: “While we are taking it seriously as a potential threat, we currently don't believe it is a serious one for this year's Wimbledon.”
A four-month review, published last month by the International Tennis Federation, the ATP, the WTA Tour and the four grand slams, concluded that while “professional tennis is neither systematically nor institutionally corrupt”, steps needed to be taken to protect “vulnerable” players from corrupt approaches.

The authors of the report, Ben Gunn and Jeff Rees, both former senior policemen, identified 45 professional tennis matches played over the past five years that had “unusual betting patterns” that raised the possibility that players may have been bribed to throw matches. There had been more than 100,000 matches played during that time.
The sport's authorities now hope to appoint someone this summer to lead an integrity unit to focus on prevention and detection of illegal approaches to players. Mr Ritchie said: “We will be shortly appointing somebody to head up this unit. Whilst we set this up to respond to this issue, I do not think we feel that tennis has a problem in this regard.
“The two retired police officers who carried out this report made it very clear that tennis did not have a serious problem.” He said that the report was looking into betting practice, adding: “It is a heck of a jump to say that it is match-fixing. I think there has been a lot of speculation, none of it is hard evidence. Certainly there is no hard evidence about Wimbledon this year - we have not even started yet.”
The potential of cashing in on match-fixing has grown in recent years with the development of betting websites that allow customers to “lay”, or bet against, players winning matches, as well as gambling in the traditional sense by backing a player to win.
Given the vast sums at stake, there are fears that players could be offered far greater rewards to throw a game than they would gain by advancing in the tournament. Gilles Elseneer, a Belgian, said last year that he turned down a £70,000 “bung” to lose in the first round at Wimbledon. A player would need to advance to the quarter-finals before earning that much from the tournament.
The latest review of the sport was prompted by Betfair, the internet betting exchange, which declared void £3.4 million of bets last August on a match between Martín Vassallo Argüello, a low-ranked Argentinian, and Nikolay Davydenko, a player ranked No4 in the world. Despite Davydenko winning the first set easily, he was not favourite to win and eventually withdrew. The inquiry into the match is ongoing. Both players deny wrongdoing.
Mr Ritchie said: “Betfair is a particular type of betting. We have never seen any views or information from the more mainstream betting companies that say there is an issue for them.”
Betfair said that the company had a memorandum of understanding with the tennis boards that encouraged a flow of information. “If they, or we, have any concerns about betting on tennis matches on our site, then we will liaise,” the spokesman said. “It's very much a two-way system. Suspicious matches usually will trade between six and seven figures worth of bets and as the tournament hasn't started it is too early to consider any Wimbledon matches so far. Nothing has been flagged up as suspicious.”
Martina Navratilova, who won nine Wimbledon singles' titles, yesterday called for players found to be involved in match-fixing to be banned for life. Speaking on BBC One's Andrew Marr show, she said: “I think the only way to really deal with it would be to make extremely severe penalties.”
